Top 5 Reasons to Have Your Family Session at Home

At-home sessions are my absolute favorite. There are some many reasons why I love them and why you should too! I've listed a few below...

There are so many ways to interact and create genuine moments! Just imagine the hundreds of little special moments that occur when involved in a fun activity with your family. Baking cookies, building legos on the living room floor, snuggling the dog, and having an impromptu dance party are all AMAZING photographable moments that highlight the way your family interacts with each other.

2. The buy-in is HUGE! Think about it like this.... What would your kids say if you asked them if they wanted to bake pancakes and then eat them together at the kitchen table with lots of syrup and maybe even some whip cream? OF COURSE they're going to be all for it! So then you just casually mention, "oh and by the way, a photographer is going to come and take pictures of us while we bake and eat." No biggie!

3. The focus is off the photographer (me) and on your family. No need to worry about how to stand or who is not behaving. Sure we can grab a few "everyone look and smile at the camera" pics, but the vast majority of these sessions are all about you playing and having fun with your family, and not really worrying about me at all.

4. They are easy to schedule and flexible! The period of time during the day when the sunlight is just right for outdoor photos is so slim it makes scheduling tricky. This is not the case with at-home sessions. Plus if it rains we can still have our session.

5. You capture memories in a setting that is unique and special to your family.... your home. It doesn't matter how out-dated your kitchen is or that you STILL haven't hung those pictures on the wall, or that you don't like your living room furniture. Who cares. It's a place of safety and comfort and love for your family. Celebrate it!
